Families for a Better Community projects 2011
We have done a variety of different projects in 2011 which were a lot of fun.
Human Rights Walkathon
On March 5th we supported Human Rights and offered a big craft table for all the children participating at the 5th annual Walkathon in St. Petersburg.
Mother's Day
Right in time for Mother's Day Families for a Better Community made wonderful paper flowers and delivered them on a train to lots of mothers as a thank you for all their hard work.
Beach Clean up
Due to popular demand we did again 2 beach clean ups this year. One in June at Clearwater Beach equipped with many trash bags, grabbers and gloves. Lots of trash landed safely in the black bags instead of being stuck in the sand, the dunes and the nearby park.
The 2nd clean up was in coordination with the City of Clearwater and Coca-Cola St. Petersbug at the International Coastal Clean-up at the Courtney Campbell Causeway.
Look - Learn - Practice
Families for a Better Community had the pleasure to have Shihan Walter Evans, Founder and Director of Shihan School of Survival, Florida pay us a visit.
He promoted and taught the concept of health and wellness through Martial Arts and the Art of Self-Defense.
Along with him came 3 of his students, a green, a yellow and a white belt who worked with the children and gave impressive demonstrations.
